God in the Streets of New York City

God in the Streets of New York City

『The world needs heros.』

A Father.

To lead the lost, to feed the hungry soul, to affirm the intrinsic dignity of each person he meets.

Fatherhood. This is the vocation of the Priest.

Destiny.

"What do you want?"

These are the first words of Christ in the Gospel of John. When we look inside, we find that our hearts are made for something more, something greater, something that truly satisfies.

What are the desires of our heart? We must be honest with ourselves and not be afraid of the answer.

Courage.

"Be not afraid!"

And so began the pontificate of a man who would inspire the world. Be not afraid--he taught us--to love, to suffer, to forgive.

He was the Pope, and he was a Priest.

Character.

The man is a man before he is a Priest.

Peter was a character. So was James. And don't forget Padre Pio and JPII. Christ builds on our abilities and perfects them.

The Priesthood demands nothing less than characters.

Tradition.

Peter, John, Matthew...

From the time of the apostles to today, Christ calls men to serve His Church and give their lives to His people.

Where there is a human need, there the Priesthood is needed.

Sacrifice

What are we willing to sacrifice our lives for?

The priest gives up a family. He gives up his time. He gives up his worldly ambitions.

All out of love for Christ and His people.

Love.

God is love.

In response to this love, a man gives himself to God entirely.

And he spends the rest of his life bringing people into contact with this love.
